These grinders are designed with your basic needs met. First the base is a glass orb like sphere with a stainless steel top and adjustable all ceramic rotor. This ceramic rotor is a lined non-corrosive type rotor that is made to not absorb flavors or corrode at any point.

With the modern and elegant design there is nothing cluttering distracting about the design. No logos, or branding covering the product except the MegaMetz on the very top of the grinder lid. With that being said if you have small children then you will have to talk to them about what the colors inside might mean and if they are even younger then that that they are not to use if not with an adult. Being there is no distinction of salt to pepper.

Setting the grind and opening it to refill or clean is simple there is a difference of just how far down you are going to grip and To adjust the grind you are going to grip closer to the top. While to open to refill or clean you want to grip further down towards the neck base of the grinder.

However, you do not need to use these just as they would be meaning salt and pepper. I know there are some herbs and seasonings in harder and bigger shapes meaning they could be mixed and placed together and then ground fresh for which ever meal. So this offers you the ability to really create your own flavors for your food.
